Advanced Training: fully compliant with the criteria as laid out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) and as described in the previous level 3 DSL training level system.

This self-paced online course is designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of the expectations, responsibilities, and duties of Designated and Deputy Safeguarding Leads. It aligns with the latest guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, Working Together to Safeguard Children, the Early Years Statutory Framework, Prevent duty, the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act, and more.

Packed with engaging video content, interactive activities, and knowledge checks, you’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in your new role.

The course also includes access to a range of tools, templates, and resources to support your day-to-day safeguarding responsibilities.

This course is aimed at:

  • NEW DSLs and deputy DSLs

  • NEW members of the Safeguarding Team

  • NEW Senior Leadership Team members, with responsibility for Safeguarding

  • Other experienced safeguarding practitioners wanting to refresh their understanding of the importance of the role and responsibilities of the DSL role in education

Prerequisites

All participants will benefit from reading the latest version of the following guidance before the training.

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Statutory Framework for Early Years (if applicable)

Experienced DSLs and DDSLs who have already completed a 2-day Designated Safeguarding Lead training should attend our trainer-led 1-day DSL: 2 Yearly Update session or DSL: 2 Yearly Update eLearning course.
