Advanced Training: fully compliant with the criteria as laid out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) and as described in the previous level 3 DSL training level system.

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or deputy, you hold the primary responsibility for safeguarding children within your setting. Your role involves advising and supporting staff, pupils, families, and multi-agency partners. According to Keeping Children Safe in Education, DSLs are "most likely to have a complete safeguarding picture and be the most appropriate person to advise on the response to safeguarding concerns."

To fulfil this critical role, your knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures must be both in-depth and up to date. Keeping Children Safe in Education mandates that DSLs and deputies undergo training every two years to maintain the knowledge and skills needed for their responsibilities, including offering support and advice and meeting statutory requirements.

This self-paced training is designed to refresh and update DSLs and their deputies on their key responsibilities and activities. It covers updates and changes in statutory legislation and best practices, ensuring you understand how these developments impact your role and safeguarding practices.

Featuring engaging video content, interactive activities, and knowledge checks, this training will enhance your skills and confidence to be an effective DSL and provides access to a range of tools, templates, and resources to support your daily responsibilities.

Covers the latest statutory and best practice guidance:

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Statutory Framework for Early Years
